Dear ITEM Next Gen Partners,
Today was mainly a travel day as will be tomorrow. I caught an afternoon flight from Nairobi to Harare, Zimbabwe, where I am now. Tomorrow, Sunday, I take a short flight to Bulawayo where I will have a two day seminar, Monday and Tuesday. But my highlight today was meeting the new director of Life Ministry (Cru aka Campus Crusade for Chris), Kenya.
A little history: Many of you already know that my wife, Brenda, and I served with Campus Crusade for Christ from 1972-78. I graduated from a Campus Crusade seminary in 1981. We have supported a few CCC staff members for all of these years. Then my missionary ministry started in 1998 when I taught my first class at the Nairobi Intl School of Theology (now Intl Leadership Univ). And I am in the process of donating my personally library, number 100s of books, to ILU. That’s the history.
Well, in God’s providence, the new Life Ministry-Kenya director happened to be staying at the Biblica Guest House the same time that I was and we had breakfast together. We had a great conversation about family and the challenges facing the youth in each country and their reaction to those challenges. We talked about the #deconstruction #exvangelical movement in the US. He has a son who might fit into that category although his son seems open to researching Christian truth for the purpose of finding out if they truly are true.
We agreed to stay in touch and look at next January as a time to set up some apologetics meetings there in Nairobi.
It was a great discussion.
