Travel Diary 7: PLAY THE GAME, MAKE THE RULES

Dear ITEM Friends, As a pastor, I can remember listening to some advice from an experienced pastor. That piece of advice was, “The one who plays the game makes the rules.” The principle is this. If you have some suggestions to make about how things could or should be, be sure are on the team playing in the game first. Another principle I learned was that there needs to be a balance between responsibility and authority. In other words, the more responsibility someone must see a project to completion, the more “say so” they should have on how the project should be completed. Both of those were at play today in the meeting with the ITEM team in Madagascar. It was a spectacular day. One of the most spectacular planning sessions I have had with any ITEM team in the 19 years of ITEM’s existence.

Travel Diary 1: Two Invigorating Meetings and Three Visionary Conversations

I have had two meetings (three conversations) today, Friday, and both gave added energy and momentum to the vision I have for ITEM Apologetics Ministry. I am extremely excited about tomorrow’s seminar. And Mrs. Sandee Cnossen is excited about her meeting with a group of women tomorrow as well. Click Read More Below…

Travel Diary 11: PRAY!

Hi Everyone,

Before getting to the report about today and what I learned when meeting with the Liberian team, I have a serious prayer request so I am putting it on this side of the READ MORE link. Here is the situation. I am scheduled to leave Liberia at 6:40pm and fly to Ghana. I am scheduled to arrive in Ghana at 8:30pm and catch a flight my flight to Amsterdam at 10:10pm.

THE INBOUND FLIGHT INTO LIBERIA HAS BEEN SIGNIFICANTLY LATE THE LAST FOUR TIMES INCLUDING MY FLIGHT MONDAY. IF IT IS THE SAME TOMORROW, THURSDAY, I WILL PROBABLY MISS MY FLIGHT TO AMSTERDAM. I SEEM TO BE AT THE MERCY OF KENYA AIRWAYS. PRAY THAT THEY WILL BE CLOSE TO ON TIME FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE ABOUT JULY 16.

It was an informative time with the Liberian team today. As much as I’ve learned about African Traditional Religions in the past 24 years, I learned more today.
