Located at the crossroads of West and Central Africa, Cameroon is known for its geographical and cultural diversity, with over 250 native languages spoken among its 20 million citizens. Following World War I, the territory was divided between France and the United Kingdom. Almost 100 years later, this division (English-speaking and French-speaking) persists with regular threats of succession by one side or the other. Simply put, Cameroon is Africa’s most complex country.

Islam has a strong presence in the north; about 20% of Cameroonians are Muslim. While Christianity is the dominant religion, according to Operation World, “Nominal Christianity is a bigger problem in this land than in any other in Africa… tribalism, pagan practices, alcoholism and low moral standards are endemic.” There is great need for trained, godly pastor-leaders!

ITEM started conducting Seminars in Cameroon in 2008. In recent years, a team from Corban University (Salem, Oregon) has been overseeing ITEM’s training in the English-speaking part of the country. Pastor Joel Ngoh (ITEM Coordinator) and Pastor Joseph Ngwani (Assistant Coordinator) are now focused on French-speaking Cameroon, organizing training for pastors with twelve eager and high-quality indigenous pastors/trainers.
