APPENDIX 2: WHAT WE TEACH

SEMINAR 1: Institute in the Foundations of Church Leadership (IFCL)

Overview: The purpose of the IFCL is to provide pastors and Church leaders with a biblical foundation upon which they can build their ministry. Using overviews of the Old and New Testaments, the theology in the books of Romans and Ephesians, and a survey of all three of the pastoral epistles (1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, and Titus) the course acquaints the pastors and church leaders with what the Bible teaches about itself, about the Church, and about their call and role as a pastor or leader. Over the course, pastors develop a philosophy of ministry, and are made aware of the false teachings that surround them.

It is our conviction that the Bible is the final authority and the sufficient source for instructing pastors and Church leaders. Therefore we hold fast to the principle of sola scriptura. We open the Bible and study complete passages or, in some cases, entire books.

The following provides the content, lecture by lecture, for all of our current seminars. The notes and audio lectures may be viewed online or downloaded.

SEMINAR 2: The ITEM Conference on Ministry and Preaching (I-COMP)

Overview: The purpose of I-COMP is to provide pastors with a biblical description of a healthy, vibrant church as described in Ephesians 4:11-14 and to lead the pastor to see that his role in this kind of church is as the equipper of the saints and the teacher of the Word (i.e. an expository preacher). Lectures include a description of an Ephesians 4 church, how the church is built up, and principles of New Testament edification, evangelism, and leadership.

It is our conviction that the Bible is the final authority and the sufficient source for instructing pastors and Church leaders. Therefore we hold fast to the principle of sola scriptura. We open the Bible and study complete passages or, in some cases, entire books.
